Unperfect Wedding

Then her husband appeared a few minutes later and she noticed right away that his hair was messy. When they caught her looking at them the husband smiled brightly and came towards her but he could not hide the guilt on his face. No! It could not be! But it was. She ran from her wedding..out of the doors. She did not stop. She ran through the streets crying..not caring who saw her.

Her entire life she had longed for this. Her special day had arrived. Her gown was simple but very elegant. She dressed and was aided by her bridemaids and friends. Oh how she longed to have the ring on her finger to show how much she was loved by the man who was to marry her. To be able to proudly show her love to another human being could be unconditional and sealed forever.

The ceremony was perfect. As vows were exchanged she saw so much love in her new husbands eyes and her heart glowed. Finally she had found complete faith and happiness. When the speeches were over the party began. As the evening went on the voices got louder and the smiles got bigger. Laughter and dancing echoed around her. A perfect night.

She mingled with the guests and then her new husband said he was just leaving her for a moment to chat to some others. Almost an hour passed and she could not see him anywhere. Her heart began to beat faster with fear, insecurity and alarm. Where was he? Then she saw the head bridesmaid who was her best friend emerge from the rooms upstairs. Her lipstick looked smudged and she was desperately trying to fix herself up.

She arrived at the bank of the river and collapsed. She held her head in her hands and sobbed. The devestation. The humility. The pain and the loss she would never forgive him for. So what was left? Nothing. She waded into the water as it looked so calm and inviting. Her dress floated round her as she drifted further out. She unzipped it and let it sink.

Just as the water covered her head she smiled. Knowing that now she had won. She would not be the victim of someone elses selfishness and immorality. She would not play the games any longer. Let them live in guilt...she thought and smiled as the water rose over her head and she closed her eyes forever. copyright gothgirl 2009
