Ella and Mike had been best friends since they were kids. They were like brother and sister. They spent all their time together even though they were both popular and had lots of other friends. As the years passed by and they grew up, Ella had alot of bad luck with boys she liked and went out with. She went out with a boy named Paul when she was 15 and sadly he drowned in the lake nearby while he was waiting to meet her there. Then when she was 17 she met another boy named Adam. They were at a party one night and he disappeared, only to be found later in one of the bedrooms dead from alcohol poisoning. Ella vowed to never go out with another boy again after this but when she was 20 she met and fell in love with a boy named Jason. Sadly he was on his way to visit her one night and the weather was dark and stormy and the brakes failed on his car as he rounded a bend and he crashed into a tree and died. Ella never trusted anyone after that except Mike. He was always there for her when her heart was broken and the grief got too much. She wished she loved him for more than his friendship but then again if she did he would probably end up dead like the rest of them. Mike loved Ella and always had. He wanted to spend his life with her. He wished they were more than friends but never told Ella of his thoughts. He was secretly happy when her boyfriends had terrible accidents as he knew she would come running into his arms. One day he couldn't stand it any more. They were 25 years old by this time and he had waited long enough. He bought her a ring and took her for a drive to the forest one night. He produced a bottle of champagne as they sat in the car as the rain had begun to fall. "Whats the special occaision?" Ella smiled. "Well sweet Ella," Mike said "I think the time has come. I love you.I have always loved you. I know we are friends but I want to spend the rest of my life with you." He produced the ring and gave it to her. "Will you marry me?" "Oh Mike! Its lovely!!" Ella gasped. "This is such a surprise though!I need to think about this." "What?" Mike reeled with disbelief. "What is there to think about? All your boyfriends died Ella! You said you werent going to see anyone else so why cant we be together..finally?" "I dont want to ruin what we have as friends," Ella explained. "I dont want to lose you." "You will if you say no to me," Mike said angrily. "Why are you acting like this?" Ella began to feel scared. "Because I love you!! You are the only one for me and I am the only one for you! Cant you see that?" "Mike...." Ella faltered. "Mike..you didnt hurt my other boyfriends did you?" She didnt need a reply from him as his eyes told all. "Oh no! How could you! I trusted you!!" She tried to open the car door but it was locked. "I did it for us!" Mike yelled. "Cant you see?" "No! You are a murderer!" Ella screamed. "You will never be my best friend again! I never want to see you again!" The anger in Mikes eyes made Ella think she should have chosen her words better but she was so shocked Mike had killed her boyfriends. He was obsessed, crazy, mad! She had to get away from him. "Please let me out of the car Mike," she begged. "No.Im sorry Ella.I thought you would act differently.I thought maybe you loved me.Now I know the truth." He pulled a knife from his pocket. "Please dont !" Ella begged. She had a sudden idea. "I do love you! Im sorry. It was just a shock thats all. Please hold me." Mike put the knife down as he smiled with joy and threw his arms around her. Ella took the opportunity and grabbed the knife before he knew it was gone. She plunged it into his heart, sobbing. "What..are..you...doing?" Mike gasped as he held his hand over the wound and saw the blood spill through. "You would have killed me!" Ella screamed!! " You are crazy!You deserve to die! You are not my best friend and never have been.You are a lier! I hope you rot in hell!" Mike slowly slumped over the steering wheel as the life drained from him. His last words to her were.."You were my everything.I did everything to love you.We could have been so happy." Ella managed to escape the car and ran screaming towards home. She finally hailed a passing car and they called the police. Ella never got over this.She ended up in a mental institution. Chanting the words...."He loves me...he loves me not."
