Lost For Words

She sat alone. Her thoughts were mixed up. Her best friend had cancer. She was dying. And there was nothing anyone could do. The tears streamed down her face. She thought of all the good times they had shared. All those special moments. All those memories never forgotten.

Nothing was going to change things. Nothing. She felt so helpless. She felt so useless. She wished she could change places. For her life was miserable. But her friends life had been full of love and happiness. Why would they take that away from such a beautiful soul? Someone who deserved to live more than anyone.

Oh how she wished she knew the right words to say to make her friend feel better. But the shock had kept her silent. All she had done was cry and run out of the hospital. But what could she say anyway? Your going to make it? There will be a cure in time? I hope the pain is not too bad for you?

For her friend had never said a harsh word about anyone. She had loved and lived and helped people. And this was how she was rewarded? Life was so unfair. She dried her tears. Went back to the hospital with a brave face. She saw her friend beam when she walked through the door. All she could do was be there for her til the end. She sat down and held her hand. "I'll always be with you," she said. "I know," said her friend. "And even after I am gone, I'll always be looking down on you." They cried together.
