Envelope of Love

There was a girl and she ws only five when World war 2 started.She lived with her parents and baby brother. Everytime they heard the sirens they would have to evacuate to the shelter downstairs. She was always scared and their food was rationed.

She handed the girl an addressed envelope with a stamp on it. "If you are in any trouble at all, send this envelope. You dont have to write anything, just send it.Then I will come and get you."

One day the children were to be evacuated to foster homes for their safety. The young girl did not want to go. Her mother said it was the best thing. She was close to her Aunty and her aunty wished she could look after her.

The young girl was touched that her aunty cared so much. She put the envelope in a safe place and was taken away not long after. The place where she stayed was hell. The woman who looked after ten kids treated them like dirt and hardly fed them and did not care about their health or hygiene. She hit them and abused them. So one day after a few months the young girl posted the envelope. A couple of weeks later her aunty came. She was so happy. The woman in charge of the children was investigated and was found to be unfit and crazy and was punished for how she treated the children. The young girl went and stayed with her aunty until it was safe to go home. She would never forget the day her aunty gave her the envelope. It saved her life. Just before the young girl left her aunty pulled her aside. "I know this is hard for you," she said sadly. "But you must be strong. I am giving you this."
