Best of Both Worlds?

Cassie had been going out with Jake for just over 6 months. She loved him and he loved her and they were the happiest couple in school. Then a new boy named Timmy started at the school and he began talking to Cassie alot. He was really cute and he made Cassie laugh and smile. He knew she had a boyfriend and told her that he had no intentions of trying to break them up. He just enjoyed her company. They became almost inseparable and Cassie began to fall for him and her feelings for Jake started to subside but she never told him that. Jake seemed a bit jealous as that was to be expected but Cassie reassured him that everything was fine and she told him she would love him forever.

She had not reached the front door when she saw Timmy was waiting on the verandah for her. "Is everything ok?" he asked. "No" Cassie replied "He broke up with me." "Oh Im sorry.I really am," Timmy said. "So am I" Cassie said with a tear in her eye. "I never ever wanted to hurt him. But I dont feel the same about him anymore." She hesitated and then continued. "I really like you Timmy.You make me laugh and you make me feel more special than he ever did. So maybe this was meant to happen and I'm supposed to be with you." She smiled and went to hold his hand. But he pulled away. "Oh," he said. "Oh?" Cassie heard the uneasiness in his voice. "Cassie I never told you this but I have a girlfriend already.She is at the other school I used to go to and she lives just down the road from me. We have been together fro over a year and I love her and I just cant break up with her. I'm so sorry I never told you."

One night there was a party and everyone was there, even Timmy. He sat with Cassie and Jake and a few of their friends and when a song came on that everyone liked he asked her to dance so she said yes after checking with Jake. Timmy put his arms around her and she felt a glowing feeling. It felt so safe in his arms and for a moment she forgot where she was and kissed Timmy. As soon as she did she realsied what she had done and turned to see Jakes look of horror and disgust as he had been watching. He stormed out of the party with Cassie running after him. She begged him to stop and let her explain but he kept walking away. He did turn to her once and all he said was....... "You said I was yours forever and you lied. I will never trust you again.We are over." Sadly Cassie stopped trying to chase him and went back to the party, hoping her friends would be more understanding and she wanted to talk to Timmy.

Cassie was stunned. She had honestly thought Timmy had liked her more than a friend.She felt embarrassed and then guilty for hurting Jake when if she only had known this she would not have fallen for Timmy. The next day she tried to make amends with Jake but he called her a slut and said he hated her and never wanted to talk to her again. Also a few of her friends took his side and refused to talk to her as well. Timmy wasnt at school either. And the following day when he did turn up he did not even look at her. How stupid she had been. She had chosen one over another and ended up losing them both. It took ages before her friends spoke to her again but she learnt her lesson and the next boyfriend she got she held onto and never again flirted with another boy. It just wasnt worth it.
