ALMOST

She began to tremble. This was not meant to be. He came towards her. Anger so vile she could feel it. This was not the plan. Her last thought as he grasped his hands around her throat was.. "At least my heart smiled for a short time"

Just as she finished she was startled by a noise. The front door opened. "I forgot my...." he started to say. Then he saw her bag on the ground. The pen in her hand. The note on the table. His face grew dark.

He would not be able to find her as it would be hours until he came home again. She had nowhere to go but she did not care as long as she wasnt here with him. After her bags were packed she sat down to write him a good bye note. Still smiling as she told him how much she hated him.

His temper was so bad. And he didnt even drink or take drugs to set it off. He was getting worse as each week passed. After she had woken him up and he had gone to work she began to pack her bags with a smile on her face.

The alarm woke her. Her jaw still ached from where he hit her again last night. But this morning she was ready. She had finally gotten the courage to leave him. No more abuse.No more bruises and scars.
